Once upon a time, this glorious thing called life slowly snowballed, and as a result, it has hampered the progress of my NaNoWriMo novel. Nearly 12,000 words in, it’s been nearly a week since I’ve given the story any proper attention. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I fear that I won’t be able to hit the 50,000 target before the end of the month. This makes me sad.
Over the last week, I took up a babysitting job to help out my neighbor. To make myself clear, I’m not complaining. It is a relatively easy job, but three hyperactive boys — one of which is five years old — makes it difficult to write without distraction. [Insert eye-twitch here.] In my spare time, I have chosen to finish writing the latest chapter of The Marriage Curse, spending approximately three days now in revision. I fully intended to post the update last night (Friday), but a carefully planned nap turned into a full night of much-needed sleep. Then, as of today, I spent the better part of the day transferring my site to another web hosting company. If you follow me on Twitter, then you’re aware of the dissatisfaction I’ve expressed with Dreamhost in the last year, details of which I will not elucidate here.
That being said, I plan on doing a final read-through of chapter five of The Marriage Curse and posting it later this tonight… at least that’s the plan. While an easy distraction, perhaps it will get me in the mood to tackle my NaNoWriMo novel, Fleeing Perdition, again before the weekend slips away.
