Recipe: Dutch Apple Pie

Dutch Apple Pie
A delicious apple pie that has a brown sugar and oat crumble on top. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a taste of home.
  1. 8-9 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  2. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  3. 4 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  4. 1/2 cup sugar
  5. 1 teaspoon grounb cinnamon
  6. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. 2 9-inch unbaked pie shells
Crumb Topping
  1. 2 cups uncooked oatmeal
  2. 1/2 cup brown sugar
  3. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  4. 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  5. 1 stick butter, unsalted
Crumb Topping
  1. Grind oatmeal in a food processor until finely ground. Pour oatmeal and all other ingredients into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix with clean hands or pastry cutter until the mixture has fine crumbles.
  1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add sliced apples and sprinkle with lemon juice. Add remaining ingredients and toss.
  3. Place apple mixture into pie shell and sprinkle with crumb topping. Bake for one hour.
